I was wondering when you make a post and rail using three fabrics, can you use two of the same colour and then a contrast, or should it be three different colours?

Aww gee. Wish I could help you. Apparently no one else has seen this question but when they do I know you will get help.

Make a sample and see if you like it. If you like it go for it. There are no set rules in quilting. The one nice thing about quilting is that quilts are pretty much one of a kinds unless you buy factory made ones.

You could also draw it up on paper and color in to see how you like it.

I agree. Lay it out and see if you like it. It is your quilt.

you can make it any way you want- it's your project- lay out the three strips-then three more turned to see how they will be together- if you like how they look-sew them together

I agree with the others. Lay it out and see if you like it. You can change it and rearrange it until it is right for you.

QuiltnNan 11-01-2011 06:09 AM

you can do it any way that pleases you. you are the 'designer'

Tartan 11-01-2011 06:16 AM

You certainly can. Just make sure to put the contrast colour in the middle of the other 2 strips or you'll lose the pattern.....or lose the pattern and call it something else, no quilt police here.
