you can use clear elastic- (order it from Home-Sew) because you can stitch right thru it- stretch the elastic and it will gather the skirt for you. I usually mark the halfway point o be sure it's evenly gathered. So easy!!

I'll go there and check it out. Does it stretch a LOT? Thanks

Your dolls are sooooo cute and you are a wonderful lady for making them. I too would like the pattern and would be more than glad to pay for it. I would like to make some dolls but can't even think about it until after the first of the year at earliest. Possible move ahead, plus in the middle of making charity quilts at this time. I took a look at the quilted skirt and it is adorable. May try to get some of the girls in our 1st Saturday Club interested in possibly making a few. Will P.M. you. thanks - Callie

I think I read that you have a serger. If so and you have the differential feed option you can gather material for the skirt very quickly that way.

I was thnking the serger only made a very loose gathering, but I guess the strings can be pulled the same way as regular gatherings.

I'll have to check that out. Thanks so much for bringing hat to my attention.
