Check out Bonnie Hunters "Leaders and Enders" Using her method, you'll evenually have enough leaders and enders to make something!!. I've got a whole pile of 4patchs I've made that will eventually go into a scrap quilt.

Polly13, the purpose of the "ender" is for it to be the "starter" next time you sit down to sew. Then you don't have to deal with long threads to hold. I'll bet I have saved a mile of thread by doing this.

I have a Pfaff 7550 also. I got it for Christmas 1995. It has never pulled anything into the feed dogs. What does your Pfaff dealer say?

I forgot to take the plate off one time before zig zag had to take to doctor to get fixed.

fabric scrap to start the stitching and then chain stitch as much as possible to save thread and time cutting thread ends. Also use IDT almost all the time and needle down too.

Ialso have the phaff.....is that Idt you are talking about the walking foot? mine is the 7550 and dose the same thing
