Ok, so I just used binding spray for the first time. Love it...
I hope to get the quilting done tomorrow. Then it is on to binding.
This is only my third real quilt and so I have a question. On my last quilt I had read somewhere to zigzag on the edge of the quilt top with the zigzag being less the ¼ inch and then trim off the backing and batting.
Well I can’t find those instructions. Since I spray basted will this even be necessary? All thoughts and opinions welcome.

Thanks!
G

That is new to me. I just make sure I have enough batting so my binding doesn't seem too flat and sew the binding to the layers and hand stitch it to the back. Works for me. Guess you wouldn't have to zigzag it if it held together by basting spray.

Hi,

You don't need to do the zig zag or edge stitching if you spray basted your quilt layers together good, or, when you quilt your quilt you go to the edge or close to the edge all around the borders.

When you don't spray or quilt to the edge it helps to do the zig zag close to the edge so that when you trim your quilt after quilting it you get all three layers....top, batting, backing. Then when you attach your binding it's attached to all the layers evenly....that's why you were told to do that.

But if you sprayed it good and you quilt into the borders and quit close to the edges you'll be fine....without doing the edge stitching.
