Hi I just have a quick question. I recently bought a purse kit from walmart from their pre cut kit line and want to try to fmq it a little bit and have never tried this before. So I was wondering if I drew out the pattern on the back of the batting and follow that while sewing if it would be bad or look like I sewed it the wrong way? Sorry I'm new at this and am not really sure.

I would take vellum (tracing paper) and draw my design with a pigma marker and glue stick it to the top (out side) fabric to keep it from slipping. Then FMQ --this way if the stitching passes your muster on the front but not the bobbin side you have a nice looking out side and the inside can be covered with a lining. Or draw the pattern on the fabric itself. I just find the tracing paper keeps my design so I can see it. Good Luck. Practice on something else first --even just plain muslin and see how you do before doing the purse fabric.

why not draw it out on paper and plce the paper on top to follow. When it's done you can tear away the paper. Just a thought.

looking at the pattern on the outside it's circles and flowers i think i might just do it by hand less scary lol.
