Quick Quilt Ideas
Do you have a "go to" pattern for a quick but intricate quilt? I'm looking for ideas for future quilts (as if I need more on my bucket list!) The only one I can think of off hand is the double Irish chain. Anymore ideas?

how about a disappearing block? they all look more intricate than they are

Around the Garden Twist is my favorite go to quilt for that purpose.

I'm new to quilting and have only made a few, so take this with a grain of salt. 3 dudes goes together really well and looks great. I'm working on one now that's also very fast but looks great...just took framed squares, split them diagonally, mix them up and reassemble. Easy peasy, looks great and gives you a lot of quilting options. Depending on how large you make your squares, you can cover a lot of ground quickly. I have no idea what the pattern would be called, but I saw a gorgeous example on Facebook done in Fall colors. Here's my example, although not as nice as the one I saw and still in progress: although you might want to leave out the dog... ;)

Fractured Crystals by Linda Ballard is my all time favorite quilt to do. It is deceptively easy and fast to make. In fact, I used to teach a class at a LQS for this pattern, and almost every single person who attended my class walked out with a completed wallhanging in under 3 hours!

The Eleanor Burns Quick Trip is fast and easy, but looks really nice. I made one crib size (actually made 2 - the quilt is reversible) and they went together really fast. I am working on xlong twin size quilts now to use on our split king bed and it is going fast too. I think this will replace YBR as my default quick quilt going forward.

Delectable Mountains made with 10" squares. MSQC did a video not long ago. I made a bunch of blocks in a short amount of time. I'm thinking about mixing the strips for another so it looks scrappy.

I make a lot of double slice quilts. Jenny Doan shows how on youtube.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm loving them all, and the dog!

Warm Wishes is a free pattern online. It is always quick and looks complicated. And I like a rail fence quilt too.

Disappearing 4-patch is relatively quick, easy and looks intricate.

How about 'Half Step Block', 'Bento Block' or HST with one color in each of the blocks.

I like nine patch blocks alternating with snowballs. Can be very effective, depending on the fabric you use.

Potato Chip Quilt! So named because you can't make just one.
|
Warm Wishes is my all time favorite. Have made many... all given away. It looks complicated, but isn't.

I'll never tire of log cabins and Irish chain quilts with all their variations.
|
I would like it, and the dog too.

I have had good luck with Panels and borders, closing it with a closing border of Flying Geese, Piano Keys, ect.
Both Missouri Star and Keepsake have really nice-looking panels. Good luck! Mariah |
Jenny has a really neat pineapple quilt that is easy to make but looks very difficult. I watched her tutorial video last night and that is another quilt on my bucket list.

I love that, too. I'd buy it if there was a download.
