Does anyone have any suggestions of something I could make someone as a small thank you gift? It would have to be quick and simple. My mind is just not coming up with anything.

Thanks

I second the bookmark! or a set of coasters.

Depending on how quick, you could even find a quilt block that you like and make a simple table runner.
That is what I am doing for my girl's teacher's this year for year end gifts.

I love the crisscross coasters I made for myself. I can't find the original post so if someone else can help they are wonderful, fun & easy.

You could make the pot holder towels I posted about recently.

All you need is one kitchen towel, a square pot holder with the loop in the middle of one side, and a button. One straight line of sewing, and the button of course, and TA-DA you have a cool and quick gift!!!

Well darn, I was looking for the topic where I posted about the towel toppers. I can't find it, and I didn't bookmark it.

Anyone have that one bookmarked????

I haven't had good luck with search lately or I would have posted the link to the coasters.

How about a small 12 x 16 pillow with a couple of pillow cases?

I made the "housewife" type pillowcase for them.

OK, what is the "housewife" type pillowcase???? I've never heard that term before

http://www.alternative-windows.com/pillow-cases.htm

This is a site that gives instructions.

It's sort of like an envelope. The pillow doesn't fall out and it looks neater on a couch than a regular pillowcase.

For a little pillow, I cut the fabric 13 inches wide by about 36 inches long.

Thanks! I've made couch pillows this way and usually end up using velcro
-- but I'm sure it's because I try to put too much of a pillow inside too little of a case

Or you just like them to look neat and tidy

A pincushion? Sachets? Monogrammed or embroidered cosmetic bag?

tlrnhi 05-11-2009 04:16 PM

What about a tote bag? They don't take long to make. You don't have to make it fancy with snaps/zippers and such.
Here's a great tute that I used...
