Quilt all day: April 7, National No Housework Day

Now we can quilt all day without guilt, unless you have 22 people coming over tomorrow for Easter dinner...

Like it and no one coming for dinner here.

Pat625 04-07-2012 05:35 AM

Perfect!! Noone coming over tomorrow here..we are going to a local park for Easter..therefore no cleaning!!! I will be quilting all day, as I try to complete the hand quilting today on a top I did this week. I never feel guilty about no housework!! LOL

Donna H-M 04-07-2012 05:45 AM

I try to do that everyday...lol

21quilter 04-07-2012 06:11 AM

Really!!!!!!! How can you put a "No housework" day right before a holiday? Someone is messing with us! :)

I have to clean today. Missed last Saturday but will try to fit some quilting in there somewhere!

There's a holiday for everything, isn't there?

PolkaBabe 04-07-2012 06:31 AM

I like this idea. No one coming over nor am I going to anyone's place. Now the thing is that I will be working today, & buying my backing fabric for a king size quilt & two table runners. The table runners are ready to sandwich, but the quilt needs the solid blocks cut, needing that too, then ready to put together. Yeah! All those taking part - enjoy!

alleyoop1 04-07-2012 06:35 AM

Oh no! I didn't read this till after I did my housework!

gramajo 04-07-2012 06:47 AM

 Sounds like a great idea. I do have to wash uniforms 'cause I'm working tomorrow, but that will be it for housework today. Isn't it great to have 'permission' to spend the day quilting? :)

biotechlady 04-07-2012 07:12 AM

Yea!! Just told my hubby about this and he said "again". Hehe.
After we get back from a friends house, this is my plan. :)

flhomeschoolmom 04-07-2012 07:16 AM

As far as I know, no one is coming to my house tomorrow. We are however getting together at my DH's grandmother's house next door. So I might end up with some of the family's kids tomorrow. They always come over to my house when we have family gatherings because Aunt Ali tends to keep cookies and Nestle Quick mix, plus we own video game systems and have both a gym set and a trampoline in our back yard.

My DH is scheduled to go camping and fishing with one of his brother's today and be home tomorrow. They wanted the boys to go, but my boys have no desire to go camping and one thinks earthworms are "gross". My other son likes to raise earthworms. He can't stand to see them put on a hook, he thinks it's mean to kill a worm. I have to bake a chocolate cake this evening because Thursday was my DH's birthday and tomorrow is one of his brother's birthday. So my MIL asked me to make the cake for the guys and she's making one for her mom who's birthday was this past Monday. Our family always celebrates the three birthdays together because they always fall in the same week.

I'm not doing house work today, but I do have to clean my cat's litter box before the two cats decide to disown me. I have one cat that has to have the box cleaned out several times per day. She's fussy that way. The other one only requires hers to be cleaned out once a day. Monday I forgot because I was gone to outpatient surgery with my youngest son all most all day. By Tuesday morning one cat was hissing at her litter box and the other cat was clawing the tile floor trying to bury hers!

Dolphyngyrl 04-07-2012 07:21 AM

Housework whats that!!!!

Tartan 04-07-2012 07:59 AM

Doggone it! I wish I had read this yesterday! I worked all day making a nice supper for family coming over and cleaned house too. Well, it had to be done for company but maybe I can pretend today is April 7?:o

Tartan, Today IS April 7th. Get to your machine.

Raggiemom 04-07-2012 08:56 AM

flhomeschoolmom, I know what you mean about the litter boxes. I have 4 cats and one of them can't stand anything "dirty" in the box. If I don't clean it several times a day, then he spends considerable time covering everyone's business.

This sounds like a great idea to me! I cut the 3 1/2 inch strips for one of my sister's quilts and am headed up to start sewing strips together. The Yankees don't play until 7 tonight and we're just having leftovers today since I'm cooking a big meal tomorrow. However, it's just my husband and I so don't have to do too much. And I'm very fortunate in that my husband doesn't care too much about the housework :)

Earleen 04-07-2012 09:22 AM

No quilting here today as we are having dinner here 14. Some have to work tomorrow so it is today. Stuff in oven and I am reading here.

annesthreads 04-07-2012 09:45 AM

I thought every day was No Housework Day.

BellaBoo 04-07-2012 09:47 AM

I claim every day but my kids birthdays as my quilting days. As for as housework, I clean a clean house so it never gets dirty. I was flybaby trained before it was called flybaby. Best housekeeping system ever: flylady.net

Pat625 04-07-2012 09:48 AM

Quilting away with a break to go to Joannes to use one more coupon!!!
P.S. Raggiemom..don't worry about the game tonight - the Rays are going to beat the Yankees again!! LOL

I love FlyLady, and my DH loves it when I keep up with my daily stuff. Unfortunately, if so much as 1 day goes by that I'm not working the system, it seems like my entire house falls apart because no one in my family will pick up after themselves! My DH can't even remember where he left his dirty clothes :/

Housework for the house I don't mind but I won't be a maid for family members over the age of 8. By age 8 a child can do their own laundry (with supervision) and keep their room straight and clean up any mess they make.

bobquilt3 04-09-2012 03:40 AM

Oh fiddle. House work is for people who have nothing better to do with their lives! . . . and guilt is a complete waste of time.
It took me 80 years to figure that one out so listen and take heed. . . if and when you can.
(grin & wink)

meanmom 04-09-2012 05:11 AM

I had company coming for Easter so I didn't get to take advantage of the day. I had 30 people for Easter at my house. Iam going to do no housework day today. I plan on going up to my sewing room as soon as I get off of my computer and I plan on sewing all day.:)

helenquilt 04-09-2012 06:07 AM

Ok I quilted last night then in the night decided the thread color is wrong so today I take it all out. About 2 hrs worth
Doesn't pay for me to work on Sunday

w1613s 04-09-2012 06:09 AM

I'm doing something wrong. What is this business about "after I did my housework"? Housework has an "after"?

Where is it and how do I get there?

Confused but VERY hopeful,

Pat

I like your words of wisdom!

gramacheri 04-09-2012 10:09 AM

Do you mean that everyday is not "No housework day?" I could swear someone told me that there is a National Housework Day and I just thought that on every other day we were not supposed to do it!

krabadan 04-09-2012 10:24 AM

Omg i missed it!

naosew 04-09-2012 02:01 PM

Right on, Bobcat3. It only took me 78 yrs. to learn this, however :-)

LadyElisabeth 04-09-2012 02:04 PM

I missed it. Had family over for dinner Sunday, cleaned and cooked on Saturday.

Rose_P 04-09-2012 03:40 PM

We only had two people coming, and I spent half the day shopping for groceries and cooking. I enjoy doing that, though, and since the visitors were my easy-going son and daughter-in-love, I only made a slight effort to make the house tidier than usual. That is: I carried a laundry basket around and dumped all the stray objects into it and shoved it into a closet. Done (for now)!

karen924 04-09-2012 04:28 PM

This is what I get for not checking in with the board everyday. I miss an important holiday!!!!!!Darn!

bobquilt3 04-10-2012 03:47 AM

That makes you a much faster learner. :-)

I'm laughing so hard, I can hardly type, because EVERY day is no housework day for me. UNLESS company is coming. Otherwise, you can pretty much write your name in the dust on the floor, the tables etc - but not in my sewing cave. I NEED to have company once in a while to shake my cleaning genes awake. I know they're in me somewhere, but, fortunately, they're usually asleep ~ ~ ~
