i am putting together my quilt all three layers and have never had this problem before of coarse i am doing it differant than before i am quilting it together in sections because it is so big and i only have my sears sewing maching but the point is has anyone ever had to take out stiches from doing a meander stitching?? i noticed after i stitched one of the sections i have a big fold on the back of my quilt i guess where the fabric on the backing was not tight enough ohhh sigh i am getting to the point of this quilt to just toss it i have run into a lot of problems and it takes me longer to figure them out than to finishe the quilt i was just wondering if i am the only one that has had this problem !!!! also i think i am just venting a little also !!!!any brainy ideas would help or a miracle that when i go back to the quilt they would of vanished

Sounds like you need to take a break from this one. If it is one for a deadline at least sleep on it; always much clearer in the morning.
we all have our fabulous times with the seam ripper. good luck  |
Relax take a deep breath.....and get yourself a wet one , hot or cold, and walk away....it will be there when we come back to it....start working on something that you have started and maybe not finsihed....if you have any..........I do MANY....MANY....

Can you make a large quilt label, and put it over it? Or is it too big for that?
|
wow the quilt label is a good idea and i think you are all on the right track i need to walk away from it for awhile
thank you so much everyone and i am glad to know i wont be the only one ripping out stitches if it is neccesary i love to quilt but sometimes it needs to go on the back burner so i think i will go shopping !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
For FABRICS I hope..............

Been there, done that once. What a pain!

I am just wondering if you are using a walking foot? I'm a beginner, but I understand this type of foot helps to prevent that sort of thing. Sorry you are having that problem :(
|
no cindy i am doing a meander stitch so i am using the darning foot with feed dogs down
|
Thank you all for replies i will let you know if it comes out where i am happy with it

If anything...Quilting has taught me patience, building/accuracy and friendship...
Take a big breath, rip and rip, redo and do, and pin and pin and slow will win the race... Kirsten |
I just went through that last week and with everyone encouragement here I ripped it out took awhile since I did the meander stitch also. It took a couple of days and about 2 hours a day to rip it out, but well worth it. Take your time and all will work out if I can do it you can.

Been there, done that, own several of the t shirts. I absolutely HATE Hate hate to unsew my quilting! But I've done it. Now I'm a bit more careful smoothing and pin basting and checking the underneath side before I just go to town quilting. Set it aside for now, then when you are ready, take it outside on the porch, kick your feet up and rip that sucker out so you can fix it. It'll be well worth your time :D

es I have had this problem. It wasn't that bad so I left it. It's on the back anyway. I was making a king size quilt and quilted all of the inter quilt and was trying to quilt the border and it was lapping all over it's self. Had to take all of border off and resew and cut about 5 inches off. Somehow it had stretched out. You talk about a pain but I did get it fixed. Leave it alone for a few days and maybe it will work better. I still have a double wedding ring I have been working on for over 3 years. I hate the colors and that doesn't make it too easy to work on. You may need to baste it a little better. DebMc
