My 16 year old grandson want silky material on the back of his quilt and you guys already told me not to use the polyester material I already bought because it would ravel too much and just fall apart. So, what do you think would happen if I used the same material and just left it whole (I was going to cut it inot squares) and didn't cut off the edging and flat feld all the seams.

make a test square. make the flat felled seam. also quilt it to batting and a test square from the main front fabric. about 8" square should do the trick. make sure you zig-zag around the edges. chuck that sucker into a washload and into the dryer to see if it survives.

thank you, I'm going to do that right now, I never thought of that, thanks

I think it worked out great, and I learned a lesson also. I didn't prewash my material before I made it and its going to be a little puckery but I think I like it, the light catches it and it looks good to me. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have used various silky fuzzy and ultra soft fabric on the back of the kids quilts because they like it so much.........I like the fabric you are using and your cat is so beautiful . I love the sleek look of a tiger :D :D

the fabric was a polyester blend

this looks great!!! I will have to try that method too as I just got some 100% silk that I want to use as a backing on a white on white top that I am planning to start soon. I also got that batting that contains silk so I will test it out and let ya'll know how it rates.
