Quilt backing suggestions
I'm in need of 100" wide white muslin for a quilt back. What do you ladies recommend? I've seen the premium muslin at JoAnn's, probably $12.00 a yard or so, not a bad price..... seems like a nice piece of fabric, what do you think?

The premium muslins are nice. That's all I buy anymore (Legacy, Kona Premium, Southern Belle). They go nicely with the quilt shop quality and batik fabrics. It helps me stretch out my stash. :)
If you figure that the 108" is the equivalent of about 2.5 yds of regular width, it comes out to $4.80. Not too bad for a premium, but if you can get it on sale or with a coupon, even better! On their website, it's on sale for $8.99 (equivalent to $3.60 yd based on regular width). |
Premium muslin is good. I have bought several brands of wide quilt backs on sale at fabric.com and thousandsofbolts.com and been happy with them. Right now I am working on several charity quilts and am using some nice used cotton flat sheets I bought at a resale thrift store for $3 each!! I also often piece backs using leftover fabric or coordinating color fabric from my stash and like that it makes the quilts 'Reversible'!

Make sure you get a 40% off coupon at the JoAnn's Website. That makes a big difference....you do the math. Love their premium muslin.

I buy the premium muslins at JoAnn's....IMHO they are great....and i buy when i can do my 50% off coupon happy dance.

I love both the Kona Muslin and Legacy Muslin sold at Jo'Anns , both are a very high quality. Its the one thing I will use my Coupons for. It is getting harder to find the 120 inch Kona muslin at Jo Anns.
