Alot of times its a matter of having not correctly editing the book. Or maybe typos, it happens. That is why its a good idea to go to the pulishers or authors website to check any OOPS! problems. If there are corrections to the book thats where you will find them. Shouldn't have to do it but like I said it happens sometimes.

The last two books I bought had errors in them. I blew off the first because I got a class with it. It bothers me at home trying to figure it out.

Forgot to say it bothers me at home trying to figure it out with no teacher.

They could have written their directions down wrong. I agree with the original post - I've found errors in some, too.

I rarely follow a pattern completely, regardless of the techniques involved. I usually take any inconsistency as a challege and figure it out but agree that it would be best to have patterns edited by someone who actually creates a quilt following the directions.

Thanks for your responses, I will see if I can find contact info for the author or publisher. I am getting proud of myself for figuring it out -- so far. :-)
