Does anyone have the Quilt CAD software? What do you think? Do you recommend it? I'm considering purchasing it, but I would appreciate input from "those more experienced." :)

Sorry, don't have it, hope someone can help.

I just got it, and just started playing around with it. It came as a perk with my setup. I like the patterns that come with it, and look forward to trying them out. You can also graph yourself, but it's as simple as using Paint or something on your computer, with lines and curves and such.
It *does* allow you to size your pantograph or full-quilt. I've seen this listed betweeen $100-$150. Not sure if I'd pay THAT much for it. Perhaps when I fiddle with it more I would say yes I would... |
Most quilters who want quilt design software use Electric Quilt, which is coming out with version 7 soon. I have no idea how it compares to Quilt Cad software. EQ6 can be purchased for about $114 from Jhittle; EQ7 is about $142 if pre-ordered, $180-190 or after release.

Are you using this to design your own pantos or are you getting the Pro stitcher?

I got the QuiltCAD program with updating my HQ16 with the ProStitcher. I really like it. Unfortunately it is best learned with 2 computers: 1 on the printed tutorials [no video available yet] and the other to do the actual work. Since I don't often have that option, I actually printed out the tutorials. That took a lot of paper but helped me so I could practice on my little notebook where ever I was [recently visited family.] I did get help from HQ as to some of the short cuts ... but nothing from the QuiltCAD folk themselves. I still have a lot to learn when I get the time to devote to it. So far have usually downloaded patterns via the net. PM me if you want any sites for this. Have fun with it. |
There are some wonderful new tutorial videos on You Tube for the Pro Stitcher.

I went to the J hittle website but could not find the EQ7. What is it categorized under?

Thanks, everyone. It doesn't seem like a lot of people know about the software. It's my understanding that it is different from EQ because EQ is for piecing/desgining tops and the CAD is for the actual **quilting** patterns and pantographs. I'll just have to stew on this one!!
