I just got the Connecting Threads catalogue in the mail. What a treasure trove of fabrics, ideas, and goodies. Does anyone have any other quilt catalogues that they can recommend.

quiltnut4ever 01-05-2010 01:29 PM

I usually get Keepsake Quilting and Clotilde as well. www.keepsakequilting.com or www.clotilde.com

I "read" and re-read my keepsake catalog until the color wears off. WHat I particularly like about them: the color is true to the representation in print.

Thanks. Does anyone know if Moda has a fabric catalogue or how to get one of their home goods catalogues. I just love their stuff.

deranged_damsel 01-05-2010 02:53 PM

oooh I love keepsake! I tear out pictures and stick them in my book for color inspiration!

amma 01-05-2010 02:54 PM

How did you sign up for a Clotilde catalogue? I haven't seen that on their website....

jljack 01-05-2010 02:58 PM

Not sure, but somehow I got on their list (I must have signed up somehow!!), and I just LOVE their catalog. It's got every sewing gadget in the world!!!

I get those too.

barnbum 01-05-2010 04:43 PM

Connecting Threads came today. I saw a block I liked and created it on EQ6. I combined it with another block and had fun playing with the colors. I'll post if anyone wants to see.

barnbum 01-05-2010 05:32 PM

Oh jeepers--I didn't create it afterall--after working it out (which was fun) I found it under stars already made.

I'll second Hancock's of Paducah! Their catalog is full of wonderful fabric. So's the store!

I had to call the company and do it over the phone. They have a toll free number. They don't have internet sign up.

shaverg 01-06-2010 01:15 PM

I never signed up for any of the catalogs, but seem to get them all. Clotilde, Keepsake, Connecting threads and a few others. I just started getting Nancy Notions and didn't sign up for it either. The other three I have received since signing up for Quilters Newsletter and Quiltmaker in the 80's. Think I may have gotten Nancy's Notions from ordering fabric online.

I have to say I am not excited about the popular colors this year. Especially what Connecting Threads is highlighting. I liked the 30's reproductions, buy not liking the this years. Look like old 50's, yuck. Maybe because that is the era I was born. LOL

I didn't like any of the colors in the Connecting Threads catalogue either. I prefer Moda or Amy Buttler fabrics. I am holding out for my local quilt fair in March. I like to see the fabrics and touch them before I buy. I plan to stock up at the fair. But the catalogues so much fun.

shaverg 01-06-2010 02:20 PM

Whew, glad it was not just me. My first thought was the quilts looked like old quilts that had been stored and aged.

Connecting Threads catalog does have bad color pictures. I guess it's to keep the cost down. The fabric doesn't look that drab in person at least not to me. I guess the designer of their fabric doesn't like bright colors. I hope they change that this year.

Try their toll-free # 1(800) 772-2891 and ask them to send you a catalog. I've done that successfully with other companies, so it's worth a try.

Hancocks of Paducah has a very large catalog with seems like every fabric made.
I get lots of catalogs but thiers you can drool over for hours.

I love Keepsake Quilting. A couple of times in recent years I have gone through highlighting everything I want in the latest catalogue and given it to my husband. He then calls them and places an order for some of the stuff for my birthday - that way I get surprises, but it's going to be something he knows I want.

The last time we did this, a couple of years ago, he said "Do you realize you've marked over $350 worth of stuff?" to which I replied "and your point is...?" Of course I didn't get everything I marked, but it's a fun way to get what I want for my birthday.

Hmm - it's coming up in February - I need to get busy with that highlighter.

And I know what you will all say - "only $350 worth of stuff?" Well, I was trying to be thrifty!!!

I absolutly LOVE Keepsake Quilting. If I got everything in that catalog that I would like, I would probably spend 5 grand!! But then it would cost me more, cause my DH would blow a cork!!

Quiltmaniac 01-07-2010 10:39 AM

I sometimes feel like just saying "send me two yards of everything"

charvan 01-08-2010 07:36 AM

Got the connecting threads catalog on Monday, wanted to send for the Lincoln Suite Quilt Kit on Tuesday, went through Quilting Cache for the center star block on Wednesday, worked out the measurements and patterns and copies of templates on Thursday, and today I am making this phenom of a quilt! What a way to spend a snowy week.

maybe you get on the list once you place an order??

mjsylvstr 01-09-2010 11:09 AM

Collecting Threads is another from which I have ordered.

Today I received an order from Clotilde's......very excited but when I opened it, the invoice was for the total order and I had ordered a mini iron to take to meetings...it was nowhere in the box.

Came home and called customer service...woe was me.........they are not opened on Saturdays...

There was nothing stating that it was a backorder......I guess I will have to wait for the weekend to be over.....mj
