Hi,
anyone aware of and quilt consignment programs?

I am not sure that I understand what you mean. Do you mean you put quilts for sale that you made in someone's consignment shop?

I have done that in a local shop - but they never sold. The store ended up closing. Apparently they didn't sell enough of anything :(

I am looking at a second store that has a consignment shop.... so I am interested in anyone's comments and thoughts on this as well

Any online service, I know you can sell on Etsy, but I’d rather consign

I have been told that the quilt show or Jean Wells' shop in Sisters, Oregon has a quilt consignment service.

Our local shop in Headland AL takes consignments, mine didn't sell there. I put them in the quilt show and sold 2! twenty percent in shop, ten percent at show. Once a year.

linda8450 has a good idea. Many guild quilt shows include quilts that are marked for sale. Usually the guild takes more than 10% though, and often the quilts don't sell. The Sisters Outdoor Quilt show will also accept quilts that are for sale. They keep 30% of the sales price, but there are so many people in attendance that quilts are more likely to sell than at smaller shows.

Etsy will list a quilt for 4 months for .20. The seller's fees and credit card percentage together are less than 20%.

What about selling vintage quilts? Husband and I have about 18 quilts made by his grandmother, my grandmother and an aunt that we need to find new homes for. I've had them appraised and need to decide on a next step

I sell mine on Ebay...Had a lot of luck

Do you have any antique malls near you? Antique is a flexible word here :) but you might tour one, and look for dealers whose booths you admire, then ask if they will market your quilts as part of their stock? Probably not practical if you do bright modern quilts but with traditionals it might be an outlet. If you have enough might be an idea to rent your own booth?

Selling on commission around here, the marketer takes about 40%. So you set the price you need/want and they add 40% to it Doesn't make a very likely successful selling for profit scenario.
