I finally got a day to myself and I found something I could do quickly. Now it's going to take me a week to figure out how I'm going to quilt it. This will be my second freearm quilting. I sure hope I don't mess it up.
I keep thinking I'm going to try new colors but these aret't very far off from my usual selection. I think I'm stuck in a color rut. I think I'm afraid of color, lol.

Cathy M 04-27-2008 05:57 AM

Jackie- you're not stuck in a color rut, you currently have a theme :):)

Chele 04-27-2008 06:00 AM

Very elegant! I love the rich colors.

tlrnhi 04-27-2008 06:07 AM

That's really pretty! Love it!

DJ 04-27-2008 06:09 AM

I know what you mean by the color rut. Your colors are not "my" colors, so maybe we should just trade for a while! Beautiful work and best wishes with the quilting!

estherblair 04-27-2008 06:17 AM

Jackie, i really like this pattern and material,Can't find a thing wrong with it keep it up :) :-) :D

ccbear66 04-27-2008 06:27 AM

Youv'e done it again Jackie. It looks great.

barnbum 04-27-2008 06:59 AM

I just bought that pattern! It had a very weird name--of letters and a number, didn't it? I'm so glad to see yours. I love the colors you chose. They work perfectly.

Maybe an overall. Of course I never see anything but overalls because my brain is missing that gene that sees anything creative.

jacquemoe 04-27-2008 07:00 AM

Thanks DJ. I think you're right about the swapping. Maybe I just need a new set of eyes.

lin 04-27-2008 07:03 AM

I wanna be in your rut! That's just beautiful. I can't wait to see how you machine quilt it. All those lovely open spaces to use some fun motifs or free form. It's gonna be great! :)

Izy 04-27-2008 07:03 AM

QUILTNUT 04-27-2008 12:10 PM

Hey, Jackie

What color rut? You and I have the same taste...that is, to say, superb. Just joking, of course. I am hoping you will give me permission to copy your design. I just dearly love your quilt, and would love to make one like it for myself. OK? Mary

Lucky Patsy's 04-27-2008 09:45 PM

Well, I think you have picked a fine rut to be in! That is gorgeous!

beachlady 04-28-2008 06:06 AM

Jacque, I love it. The design and fabric are great. Can't wait to see the finished project.
Worked on a construction quilt yesterday for grandson and ended up ripping off the binding at the end of the day. I made the binding out of 3 five inch different colored blocks and it was just too overwhelming. Will use the blocks for the backing I guess. Now I need to figure out a different binding. Wish we al lived closer to each other to talk and collaborate more on projects. I feel brain dead sometimes.

cottagelover 05-03-2008 07:58 AM

It is very pretty, and I know about colour ruts. I have two in orange, and have plans for a third one done in similar design.
I also like the Canadian Living "jewel quilt" pattern that I used for two of them and have only done 3 in my life.
What colour do you think I like? go look at
http://quiltingforfunandmorefun.blogspot.com
Thank goodness I have 6 granddaughters, who love this colour.

jacquemoe 05-03-2008 08:49 AM

I thought it was me that always gravitated towards certain colors without even trying. Thanks, now I know I'm not alone :-).

sondray 05-03-2008 08:54 AM

Good job! I love the colors.

jacquemoe 05-03-2008 05:45 PM

You're all so very nice. THANK YOU!

Wren 05-04-2008 10:37 AM

I think that (your quilt) is just stunning. I just got a little gracie and juki, and am half afraid to set it up. I can't even do a decent binding yet, but I sure love to piece. Still learning, still learning. I would love to find that pattern. I too get stuck and have to fight to get away from my preference, which are the autumn colors. so I bought some wild batiks to make a lime green and soft melon diamond quilt. Wish I lived where classes were available, but alas, I live faaaar off in the woods away from any towns for this. Please show us how you finish the quilting? Thx, Chris

jacquemoe 05-04-2008 01:51 PM

Thank you Chris,
Okay, I found it. I posted the finished quilt under pictures, titled Not A Quilt In a Day. I had a hard time finding it myself.
DON'T be afraid to open that Juki!!! Try it, you'll like it. The Lime and melon colors sound yummy. I bet that turns out very nice. Okay, I want to see you quilt something.

Wren 05-04-2008 02:22 PM

Oh, that is just gorgeous. You must be so proud of yourself! It does inspire me. I do have a pantograph that came with the frame, and I have some practice fabric that has preprinted designs on it so that I can get a feel for it. Maybe when my husband gets off his tractor, I can get that frame set up and start practicing.....LOL, I knew the day would come when just piecing wasn't gonna cut it ( I love piecing) and I'd have to grow up. Anywho, loved the quilting design you used and the thread really pops it. Thank you so much for sharing with me. Chris
