Ok - My DH and I are planning a trip to Shenandoah Valley and parts in between so he can take pics of trains (he's a railfan) and I want to shop but need some help with some fabric/quilt shops in the area. Any suggestions???

Some of my favorite quilt shops in Virginia are: The Little Quilt Shop in Madison, Virginia; the Patchwork Place in Dayton, Virginia (just three miles out of Harrisonburg, VA); Rachel's Quilt shop in Staunton, Virginia.

There's a shop in Richmond, Virginia but I cannot remember the exact name except that it's located off Parham Road not too far off Interstate 95. (I believe the shop's name is Quilting Adventures, but I am not sure.)

If I can think of any others, I will send them along too. Have fun

Thanks so much Zoe - I wrote them all down and we will plan our trip around rail pics and quilt shops. Yahoo!!!

Rachel's is a must see. Love going there. Make sure you get good directions from Google.

If you go further south into Fincastle, VA, Old Trinity Schoolhouse Quilt Shop. www.TrinityQuilts.com.
She has more fabric in this building. It is just awesome.

If you end up on Hwy 29 you have to stop and visit me. I live in Gladys. Let me know if you'll be anywhere nearby and we can work out directions. Gladys is a few miles away from Altavista. Another small town but atleast it's on the map. lol.

We have a very pretty railway station. It's not in use but it sure is a pretty building and engine. At least I think there is an engine. I'll have to look and get back to you.

That would be wonderful and I'll definitely let you know a time frame that we are planning on doing this trip. I start a fulltime job March 8th to support my quilting habit, so it would be happening on a weekend!!

Thanks for your info about the railway station, it brought a smile to my DH!!!

Weekends are great. I'm a retired accountant with lots of time on my hands. Or at least I had time on my hands before I began quilting lol.
