Quilt find but it needs help (I need help)

Hello everyone, newbie here, but learning quickly. I obtained an older finished quilt and it's just squares but nice children's fabrics. I didn't notice until I got home that some of the seams are coming out of it. Is there anyway to fix this quilt? It is too nice to throw out, but wish I would have looked closer before bringing it home. :-) But somehow, it called out to me to save it. LOL It's not all the seams, just little spots here and there. Any advice would be great. Thank you Rachel

Absolutely you can fix it! You will just have to do a little hand sewing. If it is just seams (not rips or tears in the fabric) you can use a needle and matching color (or neutral color) thread and use tiny disappearing stitches catching the edges of the fabric on either side of the seam. Then bury your knots. I am sure there are some official stitch names but I can't think of them at the moment.

thank you Jeanne I will sit with it this weekend and try to stitch it up and hide the seams. Just didn't know if this would cause any puckers in it but better than the little rips. I assume they didn't take 1/4" seams and that is why some came apart??

Most likely. Or sometimes the sewn edges of two pieces will start to separate where the seam begins or ends before it is joined with another cross seam. It will be a little tedious but worth saving your quilt! Just don't pull your thread too tight and keep your stitches small and you shouldn't have any noticeable puckers. Good work to do in front of the TV in the evenings!

I agree with Jeanie. Take your time and try to keep you stitch buried where they won't be seen. Good Luck !!
