Has any one made a mistake; I mean chose a pattern cut out the pieces, then started to sew and after a few rows knew it was not going to work out. What dose one do with the pieces? Help!

I cut out pieces for a quilt and didn't have the slightest idea on how to sew it together. hahahhahaha So there it sits till I can at least figure it out. Oh well, such is the life of a new quilter.

When cutting out for a whole quilt I cut for one block first. I make that block to see if it is going to work. If it does great! I finish cutting for the whole quilt. If not then I haven't wasted the fabric for the whole quilt. Been there done that! LOL

not sure what the fabric looks like, but i'd probably cut those 2.5" X 3" down to 2.5" X 2.5" and make a scrappy quilt or use them as cornerstones on a charm quilt if you can get more of similar fabric.

Thanks for some ideas. I think what I have done I will make into a winter dog mat for my dogs crate. The scrappy quilt sounds good and no I did not cut up all my fabric; and I can not find any more of the quilters flannel I bougth at Jo-Anns 3 years ago.

I think we've all done what you did.
I once cut a quilt, well, 1/2 of it, then took a break for a couple days. Went back to it, THOUGHT I was doing good, only to find out, I cut the WRONG colors for the WRONG blocks. UGH!
I took the entire thing, put all the same shapes and sizes into baggies and it will be for a scrappy triangle quilt I will make one of these days.

I think I have one going now. Foolishly, I cut all the squares - thousands! I'm sturggling through 2 squares at a time and I now have 10 squares. They are so far from perfect . . . barely acceptable . . . I'm debating about where to go from here. If I do 16, I could group them in 4s and do sashing between to make at least a throw-size quilt. It's supposed to be a wedding present for DD and DIL (married nearly 5 years now). Here's a picture of a couple of the blocks . . . any ideas?
