Quilt for Grandson

My 8 year old grandson asked me to make him a new lap quilt for Christmas. He asked for it to be done in orange colors.

Can anyone suggest a easy kid friendly pattern using 2-1/2" strips of fabric?

The Jelly roll race with some type of thing he likes appliqued on it , or the tube quilts are easy . Check out MSQC they have lots of jelly roll quilt tutorials.

My 1st thought is log cabin blocks.

How about a simple rail fence?

There is a lap quilt pattern on the Moda Bake Shop website called "Awesome" by Jamie Mueller. It uses one jelly roll and 1/2 yard of additional fabric. The picture on the cover is actually done in oranges. If they have taken it off, PM me and I will send you a .pdf copy.

I had to check that out - it is still there and would be GREAT. Don't know why but I always forget about the Moda Bake Shop site
