Quilt Guild swap
 

My quilt guild is having a pattern swap for our Christmas program. Each person is to bring a wrapped pattern, no more than $10 and we will play a game and everyone will end up with a pattern. I have no idea what to buy. Modern, traditional, kid's quilt, applique, etc. There are so many to choose from and most quilters have plenty of patterns already. I don't really think this is a great idea but I will go along with it. What kind of pattern would you buy?

Buy a pattern that you would like for yourself.

What a great idea! I'm like patsynel, I'd choose a pattern I liked and go with that.

I would go to JAF and get one with a coupon that you think other quilters would like. They do carry EB patterns-I bought Hole in the Wall.

I agree, and I would look for something you have not seen in your groups show and tells, I would also avoid Christmas and winter patterns.

The other option is to look through all of your patterns, if you have something you bought ths year but have never used and probably will ever use (hey we all have those impulse buys) is fair game.

I gave this pattern as a gift several years ago to some of my quilting friends along with a pair of rag snips. They loved it. There is also a Snowman and Christmas tree one at the website.

Does it have to be a quilt pattern? Personally I never use quilt patterns (I prefer to draw my own) but I DO use patterns for tote bags. Maybe find a pattern for a bag specifically designed for quilting supplies?

How about a pattern for a specific skill, such as a paper pieced pattern for flying geese in swirling rows. (Got mine from Caryl Bryer Fallert years ago.) Then it can be used in many different quilts.
