Quilt guild update
So I went to my first quilt guild meeting and I am now a proud member of Smithtown Stitchers. Everybody was really warm, easy going and welcoming. They seem like a very nice and talented group of ladies. Their show and tell was amazing. I am not a big fan of appliqué but quilts I saw tonight were stunning, no word of a lie, they would win any contest hats down. The time flew by really quickly and I can not wait to go to the next meeting. The guild is organizing a retreat on Shelter Island in March and I think I will join them for my first ever retreat of any kind. If any of Smithtown Stitchers are reading this, thank you for your warm welcome, and see you in November. Happy quilting!

So glad for you!!

So happy this worked out for you. It's always more fun to get together when you have something in common.

How fun, I wish I had the time to devote to a guild, maybe when I'm older
|
nice to hear that you enjoyed your guild meeting

Thanks so much for posting this update - I was thinking about you and hoping that you'd get a warm welcome. Can't wait to hear about your retreat!
|
I'm so glad for you.
You'll have an even more wonderful time on your retreat. Be sure to ask folks who've gone on one before what to bring, beyond your sewing and machine. |
Thanks for the update, when I got on this morning I was wondering if you would tell how things went. Glad it worked out for you. I wish there was something near me, I think it would be fun as long as there were no quilt police.

glad to hear your happy news.

Glad you had a positive experience! Yeah for the Smithtown Stitchers.

I have just received an e-mail from one of the ladies from the guild thanking me for help and diving right in. That is so sweet. It made my day. I really did not do much just held up some quilts and carried some books. What a lovely bunch of quilters.

I just have to add one little bit. I have not been a member for more than a day and it already payed off. I met people that are just like me, busy moms juggling million things all at once and still have time for quilting.

Glad you had such a good experience!! And I am so jealous about hte retreat!!!
|
Very glad that you went and enjoyed your first meeting! Retreats are awesome and a great way to get to know other members.

So glad you got to go and enjoyed it! It's very important to take time for yourself, and quilting is a great way to do it!

I am thrilled for you! My guild meeting is one of the highlights of my month. I have met so many wonderful people that I now call friends. We, too, have a retreat in March that I love! I know you will have a great experience at your retreat!

That's the result I was hoping to here.

I'm glad you went and posted an update. After reading the original post, I didn't want to be left hanging. I have been thinking about joining a guild. Maybe this will help me get off my rear end and find one. So happy for you that you had such a positive experience. I kinda suspected you would enjoy yourself.
thanks for sharing. |
So glad you went and had a great time and felt welcomed. I love going to guild every month and we have a great group of ladies. Going to a retreat is a fun thing to do and you will enjoy seeing what other gals are working on. I am glad you are making some time for yourself as a young Mom. I think everyone deserves a break.

I am so glad you went. It is often so difficult to take time for ourselves, however I learned that doing just that helps make me a happier person. Thrilled to hear your quilt sounds like one you will enjoy.
