Quilt items made with US connections
This was started on one of my other forum...its very interesting - folks have been contacting company
web sites to have them explain their 'Made in the USA' connection. Here are a few... ---------------------------------------------------------- Batting Hobbs Batting home page says Made In America http://www.hobbsbondedfibers.com/ ---------------------------------------------------------- Thread YLI Corp YLI's 100% long staple cotton products are purchased from Egypt, dyed in North Carolina, Georgia or Japan and then finished, wound and packaged in South Carolina. Hand Quilting thread has an additional step of starch glazing in Massachusetts. Today YLI is one of the last companies producing our consumer cotton threads in the U.S. http://www.ylicorp.com/AboutUs.aspx ---------------------------------------------------------- Fabric American Grown Spun Milled (a division of NearSea Naturals) Quite simply, fabrics that are created in America from seed to shelf are better for both the environment and the economy. http://www.organic-cotton.com/index?page=about Fabric On Demand All of our fabrics are from American mills with the exception of the fleece and suede which has been shipped from China. http://www.fabricondemand.com/FAQ/FAQ.html Pendleton Wool Fabric Sale Page (nothing there right now) http://www.pendleton-usa.com/thumbna...31/pc/1817.uts ---------------------------------------------------------- Sewing Machines Nolting Longarm Quilting Machines (Nolting Professional, Quilting Bee, Fun Quilter) Nolting longarm quilting machines and frames are manufactured in America's heartland. http://www.nolting.com/history.php Hinterberg Designs owned by Nolting (above), their home page says Manufactured in the USA http://www.hinterberg.com/default.aspx ---------------------------------------------------------- Resources ABC News Made In America Map Click on the View as List button to see a list by product type http://abcnews.go.com/WN/MadeInAmerica/page/map-find-made-america-goods-13917383 http://www.stillmadeinusa.com/ http://www.americansworking.com/ http://www.madeinusa.org/ |
Interesting. Thanks.

Interesting that only Nolting is listed. I am pretty sure all the major LA are made in the USA. A1, Innova, Gammel, are all US made.

How old is the information? There are no operating fabric mills left in the US. I can't find a location for one at all. Many in North America and Central America, so is true if said made in America.
|
We need to get back to our old policy of "Buy American"...and I know there are a lot of companies out there who need the business and could grow more if we would just stay in our own backyard....and yep, I know the lure of "cheap" everything, but.....
|
I don't understand how it can be cheaper to make the fabric in America, send it to China or Japan to be dyed and then send it back as I understand sometimes happens. I heard a lecture on it last Saturday. We need jobs here.
