I just bought a book of transferable quilt labels which are ironed onto the fabric. It mentions that the labels will not wash out of 100% polyester or poly/cotton fabrics, but the label will fade considerably on 100% cotton. What is poly/cotton and in what section of the fabric store would carry this? Has anyone tried iron on quilt labels and what did you think of this product? :?: :?: :?:

Symphony at JoAnn's and WalMart is a cotton/poly.

Do poly/cottons come in solid colors?

I am pretty sure most broadcloth is poly/cotton. I seem to remember wanting some solid colors at Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby, and Hancock's, and all were poly/cotton when I was wanting just cotton.

I use the Iron-on transfer type for labels all the time, but, I use it on 100% cotton, either white or unbleached muslin. I outline the picture in black permapen and then colour it with crayons. After that, I heat set it. I have never had any issues of it fading or washing out. Attached is one I did on my DD's quilt.

you can go over the printing with a micro-pigma pen (permenent ink) and heat set like quilterella did-
but cotton/poly blends are everywhere (except your lqs)
they are mixed in with all the other cottons in the stores like walmart, hobby lobby, joannes-
alot of the broadclothes/solids are blends in the (big-box stores)
not all broadcloth is a blend-
you just need to read the end of the bolt and see- it will tell you the fiber content of the fabric on the bolt.

i have used some iron on labels- i heat set after filling it all in- had no problems.

What do you do to heat set? Won't the color come off on your iron? I've never put a label on my quilts. I think it is about time I did! Thanks for the information.

Where can one buy these transfers. I've been looking for something for lables and my writing is not terrific so I want to keep my contribution to a minimum.
