need to know if there is a computer program for creating labels for the quilts for printing on the material.

HP may have some on their site, under projects :D:D:D

I use Works, so Word or just about any program like this would work. You could also use a program like Photoshop or something or anything similiar.

Use any kind of a word processing program. You can download Open Office for free....

Yes...I have the HP Custom Quilt Label Kid CD...makes lovely label with boarders or you can add pictures and of course, text in all different kinds of fonts.
I can find a picture of the cd case and scan it to show you...not sure if it's still produced or not. I bought mine off ebay from a quilting friend. Barb |

I have the HP lable maker software too and love it...even though I normally just sign my quits...

I use my Print Master or Photoshop and grab pictures off the web sometimes

Trying to find that HP software label program for quilts. It is not on HP site that I can see. My local Staples office store does not have it either. I will check on ebay.

I bought it online (ebay) about 5 years ago...I'll see where the case is at and get the isbn# or model#...whatever it has on it.

thanks. I just talked to HP and it is no longer available thru them but someone is selling it on amazon.com for $ 45.00 without the manual and one is selling for over $50 with the manual. Have to decide if I want to spend the $$$. I do have an old copy of print shop but don't know if I can use it.

that sounds like way too much (if it's the same one that I have). I think I only paid $20 for it, and it was just a CD, no manual came with it.
I'm gonna go dig that up right now...sorry I didn't get around to that last night before bed...just not enough hours in the day...lol |

It seems it was produced over five years ago and HP does not produce it anymore. I did go ahead and by it off amazon anyway. Prices never stay the same. Plus I am worth the cost. It will be a present to myself for xmas...

I use EQ to design my labels. I put a border on the label made up of the same type of block that's in the quilt. Usually I also add a photo of the person receiving the quilt.

I am having a senior moment and not sure what is EQ? I am doing a memory quilt and not the traditional squares so the border I am not sure about yet. Just finished doing the pictures and starting to put the squares together. Making the quilt like a tee shirt quilt. all the squares are 12" finished.
I did purchase the custome Hp quilt label kit today. Hope its easy to use. thanks for your suggestions. |

I was given the HP quilt label kit. I don't use it at all anymore. There wasn't enough flexibility to design my own in that program.
Now I use my Word program on my computer. I can easily change the font, the size of the font, and the color of the font. I can easily scan in on my printer/scanner any picture or drawing I might want to add. I have used scanned material to help with my designs. If I want it fancier, then I can use one of the greeting card programs to do the writing and all. I don't buy the fancy ink jet prepared sheets. I wash my fabric without softener. Then I iron it onto freezer paper, trim the edges, and re-iron the leading edges. I have literally made thousands of labels as I make them for one of my quilting groups for our charity quilts. When I make a lot I request someone else do the washing of the material. Then a close friend and I cut out the material and the freezer paper at our homes and get together to do the ironing, trimming, and printing. We also iron after the printing to set the ink. ali |
