I use to go to the goodwill and have gotten a lot of quilting books.

I agree with ging10ging and EmbQuilt !!! With QNNTV you'll More than get your money's worth. There's not enough time in the day to view all the quilting shows and you can browse/watch what You are interested in.

This year I finally quit the subscriptions, but in the beginning I really enjoyed getting a few quilt mags in the mail to enjoy looking at in the evening, etc and seeing new fabric lines and lots of ideas. Our favorite LQS has a large basket in her store and we take the magazines we no longer want/need and we do a swap from the basket. She also takes in a few mags/books for the husbands who sit and wait :-) I think it is a very nice idea. You will soon learn your favorite - mine is Fons and Porter.

The only one I still have is American Patchwork and Quilting. The others are available at my library if I want to check them out. I used to also subscribe to Fons & Porter and Quilter's Newsletter. I really liked QN and then all of a sudden they got really political. Not why I buy a quilt mag. so away they went. I have noticed they aren't as bad now, but too late.

I gave all of my subscriptions up ... there just wasn't much new in them. I recommend you by some different one from the mag counter... yes you will pay a bit more ... but until you can figure out which one is more to your liking.. you wonlt be stuck with a year of that one magazine. Spend some time and paruse them.. before buying picking one that has something that sparks your interest... but don't get a years worth just yet.

I don't buy subscriptions but I pick a lot of magazines up while shopping and buy them that way. The first two I always look for are American Patchwork and Quilting and then Fons and Porter. APQ has lots of great patterns and F&P has lots of good instructional info plus nice patterns. I look for the McCalls one too but it must sell out fast as I rarely find it on the news stands.

I agree about looking at the magazines for a couple of months and decide which meets your needs. I don't save the entire magazine keep the tips. and lessons in a notebook.

I have a whole bookcase full of quilt mags. Love the eye candy but have never made a quilt from a mag.
Qnn used to be free till Fons and Porter bought it, now it costs about 24 dollars a year.
