Welcome to the board. Google quilt as you go (QQYG) and see what comes up. There a some QAYG tutorials on this site, go to archive at bottom of main page and you can look back to find them. Good luck.

I'm not sure I understand the question. What is quilt motion? Do you mean free motion quilting?

I once quilted a large quilt in 4 pieces and joined them together afterwards. Do you mean something like this?

You can do a king size quilt on a domestic machine (though it is challenging). Just wad the quilt up. It doesn't have to be flat to do free motion quilting. Only the immediate area you are actually stitching needs to be flattened.

I agree with RST - you don't need 12" of throat space. Just enough to space to get a flat area around the needle. You can bunch up the other few inches on your right. And as you work on it, the middle will be done and you will have less in the throat area. Good luck and post a picture so we can see!!!
