I have a 27 yr old son that I would like to make a quilt for. Can anyone give me suggestions for a quilt pattern?
He lives in College Park Md and I would like to have this completed by his birthday and sent to him. His birthday is November 3rd. I think that will give me enough time to work on it and complete it. I need some ideas that will be good for a single male adults room. |
Stars, leaves, anything in dark or fall colors should work. Maybe card trick or jacobs ladder.

Julie of Off the Wall Quilting sent me a great pattern for a simple Bargello black and red only four colors, it looks great and would be great for a young man.

Does he have any hobbies or favorite sports team? You could make a quilt representing one/some of his favorite pass times.

An Amish design called Roman Stripe in solids might be a good choice.

My son is getting a denim & plaid flannel quilt this Christmas. I got lucky and found a huge bag of precut blocks to make it from. Only cost me $5.50..... And saved me tons of work! I think he'll really like it.

sports, hobbies, scrappy in a favorite color...

Well, To describe my son, He is a free spirit, semi-hippie type of person, Very laid back and single. I have not seen his new place in Md however he has told me that the walls are shade of Blue,He bought Green sheets for his bed, and a female friend of his made him purple curtains...I know Not colors most of us would choose, but him and his friends use whatever they have which is great.Where can I find that Bargello pattern?

Here is a picture of my take on the Roman Stripe. It was one of my first quilts.

I would think almost any pattern, except dresden plate. Stars, log cabin, rail fence, ninepatch, etc, as long as it is done in blues, blacks or earth tones.

Really like your Roman Stripe. You have give me some incentive. Have had the fabric and the pattern for a year and there it sits. |
I never had a pattern. We have a male friend I wanted to give a gift to, ( he is making us an oak dining table from my design). I researched on line for something I saw as "masculine" and this is what I decided to do. It was maybe my third ever quilt. I even allowed myself to be talked in to entering it into a local judged quilt show and it won a 3rd place ribbon.
