I like to heavily starch and press my fabrics before cutting when there are going to be bias edges. It really helps to keep them from stretching :) :) :)

I did one years ago with English Piecing...paper templates, baste fabric around and whip stitch together...I should admit that I actually never finished it..it is still a work in progress, but I lost interest in it. I should get it back out to finish...not necessarily make it any larger...just finish it the size it is.
