Quilt pattern suggestions please
Good morning,
My DH has given me a 30 piece fat quarter bundle (Joel Dewberry - Botanique) along with a matching neutral jelly roll. Can anyone suggest a basic quilt pattern I could follow for these. I don't want to have to sew any triangles - I am still way to nervous to try anything beyond squares and rectangles! Many thanks. Clare |

There is a pattern called Bailey's quilt that works up nicely with an assortment of fat quarters . It's versatile with directions for different sizes. It does have side triangles but they are large and easy enough for a beginner.

Beautiful quilt. I might need to put this on my bucket list.

Lucky Girl! I'd love to have a gift like that from DH. I would go to Missouri Star Quilt Co and look at the tutorials online. She has lots of ideas for great quilts. Also, somewhere on this board is a graph of what all a fat quarter cuts into. Like how many 2", 3" squares and so on. Sometimes FQ's can be hard to use but with your collection you should be able to make just about anything.

I've found another quilter who has lots of You Tube tutes that are great - Gormet Quilter from New Zeland. She has some great tutes for quilting as you go and does some of her quilting and tutes on a boat when she is in London. :-) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCj7...confirmation=1 or gormetquilter.com Fat Quarter yardage chart: http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/009...s/FQYYC.pdf?85

There are lots of patterns that use fat quarters....try googling "fat quarter quilts". Aside from that - what a great husband to give you such a wonderful gift !! You are a lucky quilter !! Also you might want to search "wickedly easy quilt" here on the board and at google. It is a GREAT quilt using strips from fat quarters.

Yes, there is a vast number of quilts that use fat quarters. I enjoyed making a couple of the Yellow Brick Road. When I have the time, I want to do a Turning Twenty using up some of my old Aunt Grace reproductions. LUCKY YOU!! Most men just tolerate our hobby.

Thank you for all the quilt pattern suggestions and the links and searches.
I am really drawn to the Bailey's quilt but I'm also going to follow up the links and searches to see if something else catches my eye as I think I may have enough fabric for two quilts! Clare |
I've made one called Brick Road, and it only uses squares and rectangles. It's a free pattern on the internet. You should be able to find it if you google the pattern name. It is made up of three different very easy blocks. If I remember correctly, one block has four pieces, the next has 5 pieces and the last has six pieces. Goes together quick and easy, and looks lovely! Have fun with your great gift!
