Can someone tell how the handle part of this pattern is done.. |
It looks like a log cabin type block with only the cream and one strip of the color then cut on the diagnal. I'm sure som eof the more experienced ladies on here will know better.

It is a pieced triangle and a straight block that make up the top of the block. Try looking here for the block.

i think it's a white/cream square, outlined in the color, then outlined in the white/cream. then cut diagonally to make two triangles. if you look closely, you will see two baskets of each color, so there would be two handle sections from each of the two-color, diagonally-cut blocks to match. does that make sense?

great minds think alike

The handles appear to be quarter square triangles that were cut from strip pieced fabrics. The blocks are set on point.

Looking at it closer, it doesn't look like it's a log cabin.
Here's what I think is done. 1.Take triangle (plain color) 2.take strip of fabric, sew to left side of triangle...point of triangle pointed up (handle color) 3.take another strip (handle color) sew to right side of triangle 4.take strip of fabric (plain color) sew to left side 5.take strip of fabric (plain color) sew to right side. This SHOULD give you a triangle the same size as the bottom (basket) if you measured everything. |
