Vickie, just let those flashing signs says, be more careful and pay more attention NEXT time. That's what they're for. I tell my recipents it's not perfect but every stitch was from my heart.

I have the same problem Vicki has. No matter how it turns out, I can't ignore the imperfections. I've thrown tops in the trash that others had ooo'd and ahhh'd over while still in progress. Now I ask you ... how stupid is that?

I've learned to let others be the more reliable judges of my results. And if only one person praises something, I know immediately who to give it to.

YUP! I can relate to that. :-) I guess I am my harshest critic. Is there anyone else that is like that?

I know that I'm my worst critic. I remember putting a sampler wall hanging together during my beginner quilt class. When it came to matching the points I seam ripped and resewed over and over again. The fabric was so messed up from being sewn and seam ripped so much I just started over. I try not to be so anal now. It seems I am my own quilter's police. When others make quilts I ooh and ahh and never notice what mistakes may be in theirs. It's weird I guess.

I just finished purchasing all my fat quarters for a Queen Yellow Brick road quilt. SOOO I am a long ways from quilting it. but I need your help. I am going to hand quilt . I am looking for ideas on what to do. Has any one hand quilted their own. What did you go around. One idea I was given was do an X from cornor to cornor. I will be doing it in 3 sections, then adding the boarder later Thanks

What I have seen done many times is quilting in the ditch around each individual block. Then one piece in the middle of the block. Gives you proper stability and creates a pretty picture of thread on the back.

I like to stitch in the ditch and then pick a simple design for the centers. Could be a diamond, heart ,circle or any thing else you like.

Here is my plan.
1.) Quilt in the ditch around the 9x9 blocks. That should stabilize the whole thing.
2.) Quilt on a diagonal on 3 inch centers in a large diamond pattern the whole quilt, skipping the 6x6 blocks that are part of some blocks.
3.) Quilt around those 6x6 blocks.
4.) Use those 6x6 blocks as mini pallets for freehand machine quilting of Celtic knot patterns.
5.) Quilt running celtic knots on the borders.
