Thanks for your wonderful story of your grandmother's quilt. I can see how much your love it, and finding the brown knot in the piecing and knowing it was tied by your grandmother's hand must have been so precious to you. We will be looking forward to pictures.

What a wonderful piece of your family history you have! And what fun you have had, and will have in the future, exploring it. I think it is great that it has come to someone who can really appreciate and treasure it.

A true treasure! You will have fun looking at it and wondering about all the mysteries it holds for the rest of your life. I'm so glad you and the quilt found each other!!!!
My sister and I inherited some quilt tops/ufos' that my Mom made. We look at them and marvel at how great her finished quilts look. From behind the quilt tops and ufos don't look so good...but sandwiched and quilted -all the funny stuff disappears! To be fair, towards the end of her quilting career my Mom suffered from Altzheimers, and most of the tops/ufos are from that time. I hope I can do as well as I 'get on in years'. We've finished several of these labors of love and the lucky family members who got them were THRILLED TO TEARS get them. |
Some photos are here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/members...bums18745.html I still cant get them into posts, but this is a start!
