Quilt Pounce and stencils

I ordered this about 2 weeks ago, and it finally got here ... I've wanted to try this for a while!

It's certainly a lot faster than tracing!

Added some more stencils, shook it off ... and voila ... my last practice piece before I start the real thing!

looks great! I have tried the pounce but we didn't get along :D

I love that its a much quicker way to mark, but I could never keep the markings from wiping off before I got to them have you found a solution for marks rubbing off?

The solution I have for regular pounce not rubbing off is spraying it with hair spray, the cheapest stuff you can find. I have never tried the ultimate pounce, the kind you have to iron off.

Another trick I have learned is I mix the blue with white so the blue isn't as intense and diluted. Some people have reported problems with the blue washing out but I have never had an issue. Again I have only done this with the regular pounce not the ultimate.

I bought the white ultimate one so I could compare the two. Will post results when I try them out!

I will also update this thread when I do the sewing as to how long the chalk stayed on. I do think it will be pretty good because I put the batting and the backing on, spray basted it on both sides, rubbed my hands all over it, and it still stayed. So here's hoping

Thanks for the hints. I have tried the pouncing method and gotten uneven results. I think it may be user error. Going to try some of these ideas.

Is this the new powder that vanishes with the iron? Got some at the last quilt show in Des Moines but haven't used it yet. Also picked up their pencils that vanishes with the iron.

Most don't know you have to Pounce it hard as you can for a 100 or more times before using for the first time. That makes all the difference. The guy demoing it pounced it as hard as he could on a flat surface. LOL I love Pounce marking pencils too.

I got this when at the AQS show in Daytona in February, the guy demonstrating also said once you have got the chalk into the pounce, to sweep it across the stencil rather than pouncing it down, that way you don’t get as much loose powder, I have used it and was pleased with it. I got the pencils which are supposed to iron off and find they have left a shadow on fabric.

I have finished quilting it, and the chalk is still there. I didn't use anything to keep it on (hairspray, etc.). Just "au naturel".

Sweeping it across is the best way, otherwise chalk is flying everywhere.

I received a free bounce pad and powdered chalk when I ordered my last sewing machine. Never could get the silly thing to work right!
