Fresh from the "design floor". Working on this quilt for my son. Any suggestions for colors for the borders? (The blue sheet behind just lets me roll this up and take it to my sewing machine. Yup, someday I need a large design wall!) |
I think green ... or perhaps gold.
Very nice !
A narrow dark border followed by a print with the quilt colors. I see a dark paisley.
A small green border and then a larger red border would look good, great looking quilt, can’t wait to see whe your done; don’t forget to show us.
I personally would pick the brightest color for the stop border and then brown.
I like it!
I really like it ... a nice warm effect, and definitely manly.
The lights in there keep it from being too dark and drab. How about no border? Not every quilt must have a border and this is one that would be a perfect candidate. Just continue making the same block pattern/design you are now, til you get the size you want/need. Before you start stitching, check the 3rd and 4th blocks up on the bottom right ... I believe they are both flipped around from where they should be. |
Oh wow. Good eye! Thanks for catching that!!!
Nice quilt, looks like a cozy quilt. I agree with no border (if it is the size you want) and then bind in that gold color.

Good Luck ... I hope your son is thrilled with your/his quilt. |
I didn't even notice that!
It's a great quilt. I'm thinking a dark border, not sure why. I love those fabrics! |
Very nice!! Love the fabrics you chose!
I also think it needs no border.
Very striking quilt for a young man...if you still decide on borders I like the idea of a small border in red or green then a print for an outer border.
I would choose a rich deep green and a red that is similar to what is already in the quilt. Either wide red/narrow green or vice versa. Such lovely rich colors! And they all appear to be scraps from your stash.
I like the idea of borders. I would like a subtle, masculine print and I would use that nice gold color as a small inner border or for the binding. To me, it just begs to be used on the outside of the quilt.
I'd like to see it with a narrow burgundy border and then a dark Paisley, as someone previously mentioned. Very nice masculine quilt!
Nice quilt … I hope he treasure's it! As far as borders … I would do a small border with a neutral then a color for the outer border and binding.
Love the quilt and the colors! I would use a narrow burgundy and then a wider print for the borders! Please show the finished pic!
Narrow cream, then dark green outer border. JMHO
Perfect man quilt.
I agree with WMUTeach and with Pinkiris, although a gold that’s slightly darker than the pale golds in the quilt would be lovely also.
I actually like the blue!
I'd probably use a narrow border of the rusty reds and then a wider border of either a co-ordinating print or if you don't have that, one of the browns. Then bind in the brown or black.
I really like your quilt. Very guy-like. |
