Quilt Purse

Does anyone know the difference between batting and fleece; I was watching a tutorial and the pattern called for fleece; I only have batting; I was wondering if there is a distinct difference. Thanks in advance.

close as I can figure, fleece is more like felt. It seems to be compressed and I don't think it would shift much after using, if you don't quilt it. I recently used Pellon 987F in a tote bag and it turned out really nice. It's a fusible lightweight fleece.

Some of the batting choices are very much like fleece in their compactness, while others are quite fluffy (and everything in between). I would think that for a purse you would want a low loft batting, whether or not you use fleece. You might even want to use interfacing instead. Just depends on the look YOU want to create.

I have found the fusible fleece to be stiffer than regular batting....giving the bag more ability to stand up.....I like the way it gives the fabrics body, whether you quilt or not (I always do, even the lining).

Fleece is stiffer and doesn't need the quilting which might be more optimal in a purse
