I use warm and natural for everything.

I've made a couple of summer quilts for the grandchildren and I used a flannel sheet (wash first :)).
One is almost 7 years old so it sure did last and it has been washed and washed.

Maybe try making a small quilt or throw to see what option would work best for your bed.

Just wondering: If no batting at all is used, is it truly a quilt? Thought the definition of quilt included 3 layers. Otherwise isn't it a coverlet, or something like that?

Summer weight. When it is 90 to 100 degrees out and just need to keep a little of the AC breeze off of you.

This is great, Thanks dsb38327. I'll see if I can do this.

I'm making one for summer right now and will use a sheet as batting with cotton fabric on the back.

I have seen quilts done with no batting and a flannel backing. Penny

....or you could do what my DH and I do: I have my own twin sized quilt, and DH has his own thin fleece blanket. This started because we each like to sleep against the edges of our king-sized bed, and he uses a body pillow because of back problems. When he turned over, it pulled the covers off of me, and this solves that problem! Also, he doesn't like a top sheet, so this is perfect for us. And yes, we DO love each other, and we've been married for 31 yrs. Been sleeping this way for around 25 yrs.

What about something along the lines of a trapunto quilt using cotten on top and another cotten or muslin on back?
