I saw something different last saturday, so thought I'd share it. I went to a small town fair & they had a "Quilt Show" & the whole bit that goes with a fair, but then they had a great big traveling semi there with a "Quilt Shop" in it. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this? This one travels around in Saskatchewan, Canada. She had beautiful fabric & lots of it. I will try & add a picture of the truck when my daughter is here to help me.

I think I've seen pictures here, but I can't remember how the posts were titled. Pretty cool ;-)
That's sooo cool!!
how neat is that.. hmmm, I wonder how they file state taxes...
Sounds cool..I'd love to see some pictures of it!!
great idea
I've heard of it somewhere. Would love to see pictures.
Very interesting. I'd love to see a picture also. Do any of you think that you would go into a semi and make fabric purchases...say at a fair or some other public event? Just curious.
Sorry
I guess, all sales are final...................
Is this it?
http://swiftcurrent-sk.canadianliste...ck_825490.html Interesting idea. So he advertises on kijiji where he'll be....maybe you can flag him down on the side of the highway. Too funny. http://regina.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-se...AdIdZ237768783 |
What a great idea!!! I bet the price of gas sure eats up profits right now though

It's almost like the book-mobiles back in the 70's that went out into neighborhoods to allow everybody access to libraries.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy fabric from this type of business, if there was something I liked and the price was reasonable. |
How cool, did you go inside, did they have reasonable prices?
I need one just to store my stash in.
Never seen this or even heard of this before, but I think it's an interesting concept.
Cool idea. Someone here in the States needs to do that, too.

What a great idea! I would definitely check it out and buy fabric from there :D:D:D

I know this lady and she is from where I live. We don't have a fabric shop locally and we(quilters) are interested in buying from her but we never know when she is in town. Did you read the directions to her farm? That is all on gravel roads that get blocked with snow and we aren 't travelling through that in the winter.
She has spent a fortune on this unit but now she is realizing the cost of running it. Too bad as it is a great concept. She may do better down the road as this is her first year. |
When the snow is deep she can always travel south.

do any of you remember the "quilt bus"????
I do remember seeing a traveling quilt store in a quilt magazine several years ago, I really like this idea, we have a lot of quilters up here where I live, and one creative quilter goes to market and has turned her quilting studio into a quilt shop, its only about 15 miles from me where my regular quilt shop is about 35 miles from me
I have heard about this and read an article on it years ago but have never had the opportunity to see one!!! Lucky you.

The quilt bus is where she got her idea from. I hope she does well as the service is certainly needed in remote areas.

 Here in England, a 'semi' is shorthand for a 'semi-detached house' - ie, one of two houses joined to each other by a party wall, so when I read the title of your thread, I thought 'what's so strange about that?' And they say we speak the same language!

I wish we had something like that here (it's 45 miles to the nearest fabric store here). |

This is just a more closely connected to how it gets to the quilter! |
