I'll be in Brooklyn for a few days this week. Just wondering if anyone has some suggestions for shops to visit? Thanks.

I don't know about Brooklyn, but the garment district in Manhattan was a lot of fun.

There was another shop that sold out of her house but I can't find any mention of her so I guess she stopped.

Now, there is also a fabric shop in Bay Ridge that is very interesting. It's a dump. You never ever know what the mix will be on any given day - from quilting to home decs to clothing fabrics.
Sometimes he has 15 bolts of quilting cottons, sometimes hundreds. It's strictly a stash-building sort of place.
CASH only.

I generally walk out with around 25 yards. At $4/yard I can afford to hoard. ;-) But you can't go in looking for a specific fabric, or a collection, or 1/4 yard cut. It's not that kind of shop. I've only seen LQS quality there, all name brands.

It's on a main shopping street, and across the street is a cute French-type bistro, a really good Italian restaurant that serves family style, and a diner.
So if nothing else, you'll eat well. It's a nice neighborhood to walk around.

Call before to double check the store hours.

Contact Pat at www.comequiltwithme.com. She's located in Brooklyn and I'm not sure if she has a shop or just does shows but she's worth checking out.
