Quilt Shops Near & on the way to Chattanooga, Tenn. From Illinois

Anyone know of any quilt shops that I just have to see on my way to Tenn from Central Illinois? I'm leaving Friday for 7 days. Thanks, Pam G

There's several in Knoxville---take a look in the on line yellow pages for quilt shops. I like Sewing Machines, Etc., Mamaw's Thimble, Gina's sewing center. If you wanted to venture into Sevierville one that you could get lost in is, and I highly recommend it, the Cherry Pit. Also if you want to spend a day in Pigeon Forge (next town up the road from Sevierville) you will find the 18th annual "A Mountain Quiltfest" which begins March 14 and goes through March 17. E-mail them at www.mountainquiltfest.com or 865-429-7350. You would be going about 10-15 miles East on I-40 from Knoxville (then about 10-20 more miles to the two towns mentioned), versus going South on 75/40 to Chattanooga.

Hope this helps!

Funny ... hubby and I are planning a similar trip, I'm a little further north in Illinois.

Assume you will be taking 57 south to 24?

If so, that will take you right through Paducah!! In which case not only can you go to Hancock's of Paducah (enormous!), and Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day (small), but you should also visit the AQS museum while your there.

Enjoy!!

Sorry I was thinking about Indiana-------------------You all might want to come north from Chattanooga to Knoxville and Sevierville/Pigeon Forge!

Handcocks of Paducah is the largest quilt shop ever, took some pictures but have not figured out how to load them here, NO connection to the handcocks chain stores, this is a one and only store, and it is so fab!!!! You must check out the end of the bolts table, almost half price on all, I have really stocked up on batics! good luck and happy shoppiing!
