The Quilt Show and similar
 

I've just read about The Quilt Show in another post and followed the link to see what it's about. I didn't know about this show and the web site and think it might be worth joining up for a year's subscription. Before I go ahead I wondered if there are any other similar things that I also don't know about?

There was some show that was free during the quilting weekend holiday but I wasn't impressed. So many u-tube videos that are free and so many free patterns.

I watched a bunch when they were free. Sometimes it just seems like a big commercial for the products the guest is selling. That gets old fast.

I subscribed a few years ago, and found it ate up my small broadband amount too fast, so was refunded.

Recently we've up our broadband so I am able to watch some youtube. I resubscribed to the show last July and use the shows at the end of the month to use up whatever is left of my broadband :) I paid for it!

If you like Home and Gardens Quilt show with Alex Anderson, you'll like this Quilt Show, same general format except it isn't Alex all the time. There are something like 14 or 15 years of shows archived with I think 10 shows a year.

I've picked and choosed...and enjoyed all the shows. I just fast forward through the new gadgets parts and piano parts. I've gotten my money worth I think. They have pretty high profile guests and a brief time is devoted to what their books or tools to do their techniques. I'd think the show would be lacking with out that bit of information and it is only a minute. And I can fast forward through the endless Bernia and Gammel ads, I'd never want either item.

They have a very nice forum, but it gets very little traffic. There seems to be a core group of about 20-30 members and that is about it.

That subscription also includes their yearly Block of the Month. When Sue Garman was doing them that would have had value to me, I haven't cared for the ones the last three years.

I don't think any of them are that expensive considering the amount of shows you get and all the older shows too. I love Jenny Doan but sometimes I want more then just a quilt pattern. The subscription sites have much more then how to make a quilt.

I love it! I want to do a picture quilt from a photograph. I have watched all the programs with well known quilters/artists who do this and have been able to see all the different ways and techniques they use for the same type of project. I don't have to purchase the individual books on the subjects and can go back and watch as often as I need to. Well worth the price for me, but you need to decide if it's worth the price for your needs.

Im so glad that I watched all the old shows on QNN before Fons and Porter bought it and started charging for it.
