Spent some time on the site and it looks like it might be worth signing up for. I signed up for the free membership, not sure about the paid one. Anyone reviews? Is it worth the money?

I have free membership also. Sometimes. Alex & Ricky very talented quilters. They very often have guests on showing techniques. I can not complain about it. They keep it interesting

I was a paid member at one time but I let it lapse. I work on the computer all day and I discovered that I was not interested in sitting at a computer to watch a show. I did get all the steps for the Sue Garmin 'Stars for a new Day' BOM. Have not completed it yet. I enjoyed it but just didn't like sitting at my computer to watch. Let it lapse because i was not watching.

I agree, I liked the show, but just never took the time to watch it.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if I can watch it on my iPad. Hopefully they don't use flash....

They do offer DVDs, that might be something to check into if you don't like watching on a computer.

I"m a free member as well and seldom watch the full episodes...but I do get their emails and they have a quilt jigsaw puzzle every friday which I enjoy...and frequently free videos in their emails/newsletters, which are informative

I'm a paid member. The shows are good, not rushed through the demos. I've learned a lot of useful tips from the guest quilters. I watch it on my Kindle Fire usually at night in bed when I can't sleep.

I bought the magazine subscription, but there are still things I'm not allowed to see. I don't like that, because a lot of their program on-line is that way and to see something that might be interesting (to me) and get an essentially "you don't belong" notice isn't pleasant. They ought to have two threads.. one for those who have paid it all and one for the rest of us! Their magazine every single month has a "cute" picture of Alexandra and Ricky on the front. I guess that's the fad since Ophra (spelling?) started it. I'd rather see a fantastic quilt... but that's probably just me... I'm not renewing my subscription.

I've been a paid member of TQS since they started up back in 2007(?).

The great thing is you can watch the show at any time.
When real life exploded last year, I didn't get a chance to watch a show for over a year.
I've just been catching up recently - at my leisure, often at 3AM.
I can watch it on my desktop, laptop, but most often sprawled on the couch in front of my TV.
And the shows in the series that you paid for are available to you forever.

As for sections of the site only available to paid members, seriously, do you think they went into this as a charitable venture?
The sets and camera/sound crew etc all cost money to produce.
Why shouldn't they charge for their product?

Alex and Ricky have both done (separate from the shows but on the site) multiple online lessons in a variety of subjects, from FMQ to Alex's handquilting and motif drafting classes.
Bernina has a TON of short videos on using different feet - not just applicable to Bernina owners.
For every foot that Bernina has, I'm sure there's an equivalent one for a Pfaff or Janome.
And on and on.
Not to mention the Quilt Gallery, with uploaded photos of quilts that run the gamut from very beginner to that-should-be-in-Houston quilts.
Their BOM's are gorgeous - and the subscription to the show is less than BOM patterns cost elsewhere.
There are teacher videos from Jan Krentz and Libby Lehman and Sharon Pederson and other well-known, reputable quilters.
I heard they're working on some deal with Sharon Schamber.

I think it's great value for the money.
Especially for those out there who don't get to go/aren't near guilds or shops and can't go to classes, or aren't able to go to quilt shows.....$42/year (I think I paid less this last time) is a great deal to be informed and check out new notions and techniques.
I'm lucky that I do have the opportunity to do all those things, but I still really enjoy seeing the online shows.

Talk about the value - people here (including myself) p### away the same money on 4 yards of fabric that are going to be sitting around, unused, in their stashes for years.
At least this will get used. ;-)

Oh, and you can buy a half year at a time if you want for around $24.

So, yeah, never regretted it.

Personally, I wasn't impressed and I paid for a subscription. It was too foo foo for me. I really wasn't interested in video chats with quilt celebrities and what not. Very little instruction for what I was looking for.

I was given a 6 month free membership by a friend when she renewed her membership...I enjoyed what I watched....and can still go and watch any of the shows from the 6 months I was a member...I would join if I could afford it....and maybe sometime in the future I will, but for now, my budget is too tight until I get caught up.

I have two free gift certificates if anyone is interested. I got them when I renewed my membership if interested PM me and I will send you the certificate numbers. I like the site and find it worth the money.

I have a free membership and I love seeing some of the quilts that the feature. Other than that I could care less about the show. Not interested in the how to part or the chit chat.

I am a paid member and enjoy watching the shows on my iPad. I think the information I got from one show by Sally Collins on Precision Piecing more than paid for my membership fee.

I am a paid member, I got a year's subscription for 6 months price when they had a special. I find it very informative and have learned many things. Watch it on my laptop, Kindle Firehd, or iPhone. Dropped my Qnntv, I get much more from TQS. Being able to watch Ricky Timms Grand Finale DVD (over 2 hrs of teaching) as many times as I want for 3 months is worth the price. Bought the mag a couple times, but I am paring subscriptions down too so didn't get it. I put it on when I'm sewing sometimes especially when starching/pressing fabric and cutting. Worth it to me, but not for everyone.

I agree the extra video lessons are worth the cost of the membership. Sally Collins lessons were the same as being in a class with her, I know I have taken her class. When I first joined I thought this wasn't worth it but then I really looked at what was available and how much work went into the site. It is an amazing quilting site. If Sharon Schamber shares her talent there, it will be amazing for members.

And a note on the tone of the show - I would agree that the first couple of series were a bit....stilted as both Alex and Ricky became familiar with their new roles in that format -it was sometimes a bit too talk show-ish.
They definitely listened to feedback, and changed many things by Series 3.
Now I especially like the shows done outside the studio - in private homes and museums (playing to a studio audience constantly can be draining, and unnecessarily time consuming for the at-home viewer).
And I'm sure it's a better deal for them as well, not having the expense of the studio.
The whole concept is much more relaxed.

MTS, of course they should make a profit! This is their business. I just don't like seeing a great introduction and then finding out it's part of the no-no list for me. That really puts me off. I wish they'd have two of their programs, I guess, one for those of us who have only bought the magazine and one for those who want it all. Then I wouldn't feel so much like a second class citizen.

I had paid membership for three months and I enjoyed it but I wasn't able to see as many shows as I wished to for the price. I may renew it in the future if I think it will be worth while.

A few years ago The Quilt Show had a free day. I watched a lot of the episodes, but, I found that I wasn't that impressed enough to purchase a subscription. It's up to you, but, I thought the subscription was quite expensive.

I'm a paid member too... I thought the lessons on Ricky's Rhapsody quilt was worth the cost of one years subscription. Until recently my internet bandwidth was too restricted to watch a full show (and also too slow). I recently upgraded so hope I will enjoy The Quilt Show even more. Ricky and Alex are two of my favorite quilting personalities so I could be prejudiced.
