Just count that as your daily exercise. I would!

Standard sizes (L x W) are as follows:

King: 96" x 100"

Queen: 96" x 82"

Double: 90" x 76"

Twin: 90" x 60"

Crib: 65" x 50"

These dimensions allow the quilt to hang over the sides and bottom of the bed by about 12". If you prefer a quilt that lies on top of the bed with little overhang, look for quilts with smaller than standard dimensions.

i find that when my hubby is in bed by himself, that 12" id gone, gone, gone. add me to the mix and one of us has a cold tushy. the height of the bump in the bed takes up a lot of extra inches, imho.

Does he complain when you call him a lump? Mine does - lol, but NOW thanks to you, I have a justified argument.

What more or less works for me -

Start with the dimensions of the top of the mattress - then decide how much you want hanging down over the sides of the bed - and if you want to cover the pillows with the quilt or put the pillows on top of the quilt -

And as butterflywing said - need to take into consideration also if the people under the quilt are skinny or round.

In our case, my DH has gotten bonily scrawny - and I've gone big-time in the other direction.
