I'm thinking of buying a quilt software package - any recommendations?

BlueChicken 04-14-2009 05:33 PM

I have EQ6... it's marvelous! Worth every penny.

Quilt software makes life so easy, especially if you're not good at visualising stuff.

i have eq5 and i'm very happy with it. i'll eventually upgrade to eq6 but its not in the budget right now.

do you use it just for paper piecing or planning all your quilts?

shaverg 04-14-2009 06:14 PM

I have EQ6 also and have been getting it since it first came out. I love it and use if for paper piecing a planning a quilt. I also have block base that works with it. It is so Nice, I can actually scan material and plan my quilt with the material I am using.

i use it to plan my quilts and then if its not a strip quilt i'll print out templates or paper piece patterns.

I just got EQ6 and I love it. It was worth every penny. Before that I had Quilting Wizard. I liked that one too but EQ6 has so many more options.

I'm happy with my EQ5 too!

BlueChicken 04-14-2009 09:54 PM

I've even started planning halfway through! lol

When I got all my blue and white star blocks I took a photo of each block and imported it into eq6. I could then play with various settings, borders, etc, all at the touch of a button. It was marvelous!

sidmona 04-17-2009 04:00 AM

Hurray! :D My quilting software is on the way. I am so excited I can hardly wait till it gets here. Only problem is that I have to finish two quilts before I can play with it :(

kluedesigns 04-17-2009 05:34 AM

YIPPEE!!!

did you decide on EQ?

sidmona 04-17-2009 05:49 AM

yup, got the EQ6. Joann's had it on sale so I couldn't pass it up. It was less than buying the EQ5 and the update. :D :D :D

kluedesigns 04-17-2009 05:53 AM

how exciting you're gonna love it.

there's some good books on the market that help you work thru all the features of the software.

also quilting university has some online classes you can take and the price is very reasonable.

EQ6 is the best you'll find. It's costly but it never gets boring. It is the only quilt program that is as good for a beginner quilter and the professional designer.

LOL. Christmas in April. How great, you will love it.
