quilt squares for cat rescue
4 Attachment(s)
I am making a quilt for our local cat rescue the cat haven in Perth western Australia. these are what I have made so far. since taking these pictures I have sewn them together and continued the log cabin around the borders. I will post the finished quilt when I have finished it. the centre of all the squares was using crumbs around left over cat pictures that were cut out at different angles and squared up with the crumbs then cut to size

Awww. Adorable. How did you do the faces?
|
Now, that is just adorable. Will it be for an auction??
|
How sweet!

not sure yet I will give it to them when I visit next and they can do what they like with it, I have sewn 9 together and with the border it makes a nice size lap quilt. after the fire last year I was given a lot of fabric and there were a lot of bits and pieces not really big enough to make squares out of so I just cut the pictures of the cats out of the bits at different angles then sewed lots of crumbs around them till they were big enough to do something with, as long as you have straight edges it doesn't matter what the angle is you just square it up as you go the more odd the shapes the better, I had lots of fun doing them. I had hoped to finish it by tomorrow but ran out of time and energy.

Wonderful cat quilt and a wonderful cause.
My DH and I are owned and ruled by our cat children -- all of whom are rescues from shelters. They make our lives wonderful. |
I love doing scrap quilts like you are doing. Those are some lucky cats!
|
What a great thing to do!!! They are adorable.
|
Very cute!

I love the way you fussy cut the cats and then did the crumbs around them. This is such a cute quilt. It should do well if raffeled or auctioned.
|
cleverly done!

So cute.... I want one.

Buggy Barn designs has a great cat quilt done with fat quarters. Not as cheap as scraps though. I did the cats with alternating flowers (used big yoyos for the flower centers) then put the spay/nueter motto on the top in pieced letters and the name of the organization down the left side. Gave it to them and they use it on the wall in the waiting room.

well the dogs up the road woke me up at 5 am this morning so guess what I got up and finished the quilt. I must admit tho I am guilty of doing all the binding on the machine, ( I know no quilt police are here) at least they can have it when I visit today. I am goint to use gold thread to hand tie the centers of the log cabins where they meet as I am not 100% happy with the way they turned out. So all you lovely ladies that liked the squares here is the almost completed quilt. enjoy
