a quilt story
1 Attachment(s)
I have posted before about my late DH's tiny piece quilts
https://www.quiltingboard.com/pictur...ts-t79481.html Since we moved we/I have been trying to find homes for them and maybe raise some money for charities. So I put one in a silent auction for the local free medical clinic, it was this one. A lovely lady I volunteer with bid on it but was disappointed she didn't get it. Little did she know, I had a duplicate at home (DH made two of each pattern). So I gave her the duplicate and she was thrilled. I am somewhat disappointed with how little the quilts raise, and have shifted my focus to finding homes for them where they will be appreciated. I felt "nudged" by DH to give her this quilt, I know if they had ever met they would have loved each other. And DH has a way of letting me know when he approves -- as I was walking back inside after giving her the quilt in the parking lot, I saw a red construction paper heart in the muck and snow of the driveway. It made me smile. |
Your DH tiny quilts are amazing! And that's a wonderful story! They should go to someone who appreciates all of the time and love that went into them.
that is a cute quilt - it has a cat on it!
your story tugged at my heart. |
That is a lovely quilt and a sweet story. Thanks for sharing.

Unbelievably tiny pieces and such completely unique quilts. I have never seen anything like this. It's a wonder you can part with them; I'd have a very hard time. Your DH must've had amazing patience and focus.
I love the way you found his approval of your parting so kindly with his artistic hard work. |
What a heart-warming story!
Beautiful quilts that deserve to be truly appreciated. Sweet story and best wishes always.
Thank you for sharing your quilt story. Your DH's work was amazing.
What a lovely story. And his quilts are awesome. Not sure I'd have the patience with those tiny pieces.
Beautiful tiny quilt. What a great friend you are!
Wonderful story. We need hopeful events like these in our lives each and everyday. Thank you for sharing.
Your husband was an amazing quilter! I'm sorry you have lost him.
Once you have experienced the joy of giving a quilt away, it's hard to stop! :o Merry Christmas! |
Awww, thanks for sharing such a nice story with us. And that quilt is just precious.
What a sweet story. So sad for you that you lost him. Love his small quilts.
Lovely quilt and beautiful story. You are right-- your DH was sending his approval of the gift giving with heart you found in the driveway.
That's a darling quilt, and a nice little story to go with it - I love getting those little signs from the universe, too - they come at just the right moment, don't they.
He was a uniquely gifted quilter. I saw the thread from years ago and was blown away...as I am with this quilt. So thoughtful of you to gift one of these special quilts. I'm sure she'll treasure it. And the heart in the snow? seriously precious.
Your DH was very creative and an exceptional quilter! Your story is heart lifting and yes I agree with you that it is better to give to someone who will appreciate the artistry and will love the workmanship.
I have given many of my quilts away and although there is no guarantee I always hope that the receivers will appreciate the loving hours put into making them. The little paper heart was a touching sign and moment. |
Your story was lovely as is the quilt. I wish I "was rich instead of just good looking" and I would buy one of those quilts in a heartbeat! They are a treasure. I am sorry you miss him so much but it is wonderful that you can spread joy and his gifts to other folks. Keep it up!
