I attended one session of the quilters at my church. They had these long sticks that they pinned the backing of the quilt to for a whole cloth quilt. Does anyone know the name of these? <I am trying to Google to see how expensive they are.>

Those were part of a quilting frame used at quilting bees. The stretchers are set on a base. Quilters sat on both sides of the stretchers and I think the started quilting from the center keeping the stretchers taunt. I think they probably rolled and rerolled the quilt on the stretchers to keep unquilted portions of the quilt available to both side of the frame. I have one I purchased about 15 years ago at an auction for $7.50. My end bases have slots to fit the stretchers into as quilting as done.
You might search under something parrellel quilting frames, or just quilting frames
