When a friend of mine saw that I was getting into quilting, she wanted to do it, too. So, she sat down and watched youtube videos on quilting for a few hours and then off we went to the fabric store. She immediately began chastising me for doing it "the wrong way". As we were getting fabrics cut, she even told the fabric cutter that I quilted incorrectly but she was going to do it "the right way". The nerve doesn't stop there! Thenm, after the woman cutting the fabric revealed her technique, my friend declared that she was not quilting properly, either! I could have died right there!
My good buddy never did make a quilt. That is the test of proper quilting--did you produce a quilt? Cause if you didn't, that's when you know you did it the wrong way! |

I would probably never get a quilt made if I had to do it by hand and work fulltime. |
If my machine made quilts are not 'real', does that make them unreal?

- one should grow one's own cotton - spin the thread -weave the threads into cloth - maybe build a spinning wheel and loom in here someplace - forge a needle - create a scissors - spin some thread for sewing - totally avoid any man-made fibers for batting/wadding Guess one could go on and on from here. Maybe the term should/could be "custom made" or "one of a kind made" ??? |
