Quilt Top Dilemnia?

I took a quilt top to my lady who does the quilting. She called me and wanted to know what I wanted to sell the top for before quilting. I told her $150, she then commented that was a little too rich for her. I was considering bartering - maybe have her quilt a couple of tops in exchange for this one. Does anyone know it the price sounds right or what. I was hoping to get $250 for the quilt and matching pillow cases, but I don't know what the price should be. It is a queen size quilt.

Help!!

$150.00 Dollars sounds very reasonable to me. You need to figure what the fabric cost you, batting if you bought your own & your labor of making it. Only you can decide what you want to do. I hope you let us know what you decide. Good luck. :)

I generally have at least $150.00 in just the fabric for the top!

I wouldn't be able to comment without seeing the quilt. If it was my quilt, it would depend on how complex the pattern is, how much money I'd spent on the fabrics, and how many hours I'd spent piecing it. Some tops I can do in an afternoon, some tops take months.

my last commission is paying $1000, plus materials.

i know the market dictates worth, but don't ever undercut yourself, your workmanship or your time.

Bartering is good if both sides feel they are getting a fair deal. I have a friend who enjoys cleaning. I enjoy piecing quilt tops. Guess what we exchange.

Stillclock, what pattern is your quilt? I would love to see a picture.

That is amazing! I would love to get to that stage in my quilting - This is my first quilt to sale, but I do have a request for another.
