what is a nice size for a throw? whatever it turns out to be? just wondering.. I always end up with a bed cover ! do many of you make bed runners?

I normally just do whatever it turns out to be as long as its under the standard size for a twin.

For me, it all depends .......
* is it more decorative or more practical? * size of the person it's for? 5'1" doesn't need the size of a 6'3"; likewise kids or adults! * is it for one person or more to cuddle under? * the design/pattern of the quilt? * sometimes it grows beyond my intent, as one more border, etc. is needed to give it, its best look!!!! :) Generally I start at 50x70'ish and go from there. Though if it's to be more decorative, it might be 40x60. So .... it's really whatever you want it to be! |
I like about 40x60 if it's just a throw,

I've found 60" square to be a good size for me (I'm 5'6" ). It's big enough to curl up under, but not so big that it looks odd folded up on the couch.

I like our "couch quilts" to be 60-65 inches wide and 80-85 inches long.
Small enough to wrestle through my sewing machine. Big enough to keep warm under. (I like my shoulders AND feet covered at the same time.) Some of us tend to "watch" TV horizontally. |
